Psalm 121
1 I lift up my eyes to the hills—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The LORD watches over you—
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The LORD will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
I generally dont like to read psalms, Im not a fan of poetry and i have a hard time interpreting and applying the psalms to my life. I do however love music and this psalm is the basis of a song I like, http://social.zune.net/bingplayer/?v=1.0#mid=dd9c6b06-0100-11db-89ca-0019b92a3933&title=My%20Help%20Comes%20From%20The%20Lord&artist=The%20Museum&album=Let%20Love%20Win&artistid=338c1200-0200-11db-89ca-0019b92a3933&albumid=469c6b06-0100-11db-89ca-0019b92a3933&dto=1&preview=0&explicit=0&lyrics=.
I am a senior in the college of nursing and I have never been as sleep deprived, sad, stressed, helpless, happy, hopeful, joyous, or content in my entire life. I struggle hourly with keeping my focus on Jesus and his plan and his word. It is completely useless for me to work hard, and compete, and spend my energy on anything other than the expanding of Gods kingdom.
I feel as though God has called me to reach people in the health community through nursing and the only way for me to reach those people is by working hard with little sleep and much disappointment. But as this psalm reminded me he is there he didnt send me out on a rediculous struggle without a goal or guidence or encouragement and for that I am truly thankful! Jesus is a rockstar!
Beautiful sentiment. Big challenge. Be serious about each step of your life and career; don't be swayed by the simplest path. Make conscious choices.
