Vintage Grumpy

Well...one more mannequin bites the dust! I will miss Vintage Grumpy.

We almost saved him, had we noticed the suction wasn't hooked up to the non existent suction in the fake hospital room we would have saved this poor poor mannequin from a horrible death of fluid in the lungs...oh well!

no more 12hr clinicals! just finals, then Christmas break!

Jesus....is legit

Instead of studying for my psych test I spent some time studying Mark chapter 1, A good use of my time!

I learned that Jesus has all authority and it is important to understand his authority If we are going to follow his teachings and preach the good news. As John the baptist says in Mark 1:15 “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” we need to understand who he is and why we follow him

Jesus showed his power through healing the sick, and expelling demons with only his words. he did all this and asked for people not to spread the news...I found this odd, wouldnt he want everyone to hear of the true power and authority he has over this world...until the commentator explained that once the word got around about Jesus' ability to heal the sick, he was unable to travel into major cities because of the vast number of people crowding to meet him, he then had to stay in smaller unpopulated areas.

This led into the second thing I learned as the commentator put it "All disobedience, even well−intentioned, hurts Jesus' work." The people he healed were told not to tell anyone, but they did because of the gratitude they felt. I think this was a really important point in the chapter, our thoughts and plans are no where near as intelligent as Gods plans, and its important to be seeking his will and plans and then to be obedient.

Unplugged

Just watched a documentary on a few college students who decided to stop using their computers and cell phone for 3 weeks...
No email
No facebook
No online classes
No Hulu
No google
No texting
Only Books, land line phones, and mail...

They encountered a few school related problems: online tests, online reading assignments, school requirements for papers and class registration.

Inability to get a hold of business and school officials through phone calls,

They were bored a lot

They had to talk to friends face to face, and through phone calls which they found uncomfortable.

I think it was interesting to see how personal communication has changed, I know I am way more comfortable facebooking someone, or sending them a text than talking in person or calling them on the phone. I think "unplugging" would be a good idea to remove computer related distractions and increase personal relationships, but I think that computers are necessary and very helpful in school related issues.

I am going to try and go a week I know, not very long...without using my computer for unnecessary website surfing, hulu watching, facebooking and see how much extra time I have for homework, friends, scrap booking and other fun things!
